Catnip, a member of the Mint family, is most famous as a treat for cats to play with, but it also has a long history of traditional herbal use. To prevent a lengthy adjustment period, you can use catnip to calm the unhappy feline. Spray heavily diluted catnip (2-3 drops of oil into 200ml of water) lightly on some of the cat’s bedding, toys, and scratching posts to ease the anxiety.
A little warning – constant exposure to this essential oil, cats can become desensitized to its scent and they won’t manifest the behaviors usually associated with catnip high anymore.
